INNOVATIVE LEADERSHIP FOR INSTITUTIONAL TRANSFORMATION
UNIVERSITY LEADERS’ TRAINING PROGRAMME
Offered by The Centre for Innovative Leadership and Governance (CLIG) in collaboration with The Institute for International Business at the University of Iowa, USA
Effective University leadership is a key responsibility for University Leaders because they are the accounting officers, vision carriers and drivers for efficient leadership in a university. With the dynamic higher education sector that requires competitive positioning and innovative approaches to leadership and governance, there is need for these leaders to be equipped with leadership and entrepreneurial skills, to be mentored and coached to transform their institutions.
For three years now, CLIG has been regularly holding training workshops for Chairmen of Councils and Vice-Chancellor of African Universities. From request by our partners and feedback from past participants, we saw the need develop a Training Programme for DVCs so as to enable them support their respective VCs and Council Chairs in transforming their institutions.
University Leaders' Training
The Training was to take place at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, USA from 13th - 17th April, 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic this training was rescheduled to a later date. This training shall be facilitated by The Institute for International Business (IIB). This five-day workshop will focus on entrepreneurship and innovation, industrial parks and incubation centres, contracts and negotiations, resource mobilization through grants, gifts and endowments, internationalization, networking, collaborations and partnerships.
