he Centre for Innovative Leadership & Governance (CLIG Africa), in collaboration with CMEUK, London, hosted a five-day Executive Leadership Programme for University Council Members and Boards of Trustees from August 3 to 7, 2026, in London, United Kingdom. Designed to address the rapid evolution of higher education driven by artificial intelligence, changing funding models, and intensifying global competition, the summit brought together university leaders to enhance strategic governance, refine board oversight, and build long-term institutional resilience.

Throughout the week, participants explored critical administrative challenges, including building AI-enabled universities, establishing innovation hubs, and diversifying funding models to ensure financial sustainability. A major highlight was an institutional benchmarking visit to a leading private university in London, which allowed leaders to engage directly with UK higher education executives and examine globally benchmarked governance practices firsthand, equipping them with practical strategies to lead their institutions through sector disruptions.
